Years completed: 1
Years remaining: 2
Family Background
I am the oldest in our family. My parents separated when I was eight years old. I grew up in my grandmother’s house. Now I live with my uncle, Pastor Kabaku. I have one sister and four brothers and we all live with my uncle who also has several children of his own.
What were you doing before going to the university?
After graduating secondary school I began teaching at the primary school. However, I want to teach at the secondary school so being able to continue my education is a big blessing.
What challenges are you facing?
It is very difficult for me not to have my own parents as part of my life. I have also had difficulty with my eyes. Recently, an opthamologist in Bunia prescribed glasses to me so now I am saving money to buy them.
What do you hope to do when you graduate?
When I finish school I want to go to Nyankunde to teach there. I also want to help my younger siblings and make a difference in our community.
How has your sponsor helped you?
It is difficult to put into words. My parents left me and this is so special to me to be seen, cared for and valued in this way. When I finished secondary school I had no idea I would ever be able to study again and now here I am at the university. My sponsor has made this possible.
