Testimony
My name is Sarah. When I was 19, I declared my faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and was baptized. I grew up and went to school in Nyankunde. In the middle of the insecurity around me and my parents’ illness and my own, Psalm 23 has meant much to me. The Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not want. . . . Though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil for God is with me. I have learned to trust God in the middle of my challenges. I am so grateful for the support of Congo Impact and the opportunity to study at ISTM. I am now a nurse midwife and I want to serve my community by providing health care and teaching others about health and hygiene. I want to be a light in my community and help others know Jesus Christ as their Savior.
What has God done in your life?
I cried out to the Lord because I wanted to go to Superior School and receive an education to allow me to become a nurse midwife. My family did not have the means to send me and my work doing housework and working in the field, would not support my going to higher education. As I prayed along with others, God brought healing to my parents and to me. God also provided through Congo Impact to pay for my school. Not only did Congo Impact assist with my schooling but they also provided Bible studies and challenged me to allow God to transform my life.
What are you doing now that you have graduated?
After graduation from Superior School, I pursued two additional years of education at the Angelical University of Congo to receive my license as a nurse midwife. I am now in my final year of school. I am so grateful for the support of Congo Impact and the opportunity to study at ISTM. I am now a nurse midwife and I want to serve my community by providing health care and teaching others about health and hygiene. I want to be a light in my community and help others know Jesus Christ as their Savior.
What would you like to do after you receive your license as a nurse midwife?
When I receive my license, I hope to work in the community to reduce the rate of infant mortality and maternal death. I would also like to engage in conversations with young people about harmful practices related to sex in order to help save the lives of people in the community. I want to be a light in my community and help others know Jesus Christ as their Savior. I want to be a nurse midwife who is a light in my community and help others know Jesus Christ as their Savior.
