Family Background
I was born in Nyankunde. I am the third son of eight children. My father is a primary school teacher. My mom works in the home. She spends a lot of time at the church and with the women of the Good News group. I grew up in a Christian home and was taught a lot about God. I got along well with others and made good choices because of what my parents taught me.
What is something good happening in your life?
I am really joyful about where I am at in life. I never thought I would be at the university. God really gave me another way. This has really marked my heart. I thank everyone on the Congo Impact team. I see that I have two families now. My spiritual family and this family that adopted me and made my education possible for me.
What is a challenge that you are facing?
One challenge that can come is paying other fees that come up academically. We also don’t always have power so we have to study often by candle light.
What do you want to do when you graduate?
I can’t forget where I came from. I have come to Bunia now but it is for Nyankunde. When I finish I am going to go back to Nyankunde to help my community by being a great teacher. We really want to bring up the level of teaching and education in our area. Often people teach right after graduating secondary school themselves so they don’t have a lot of knowledge. It’s like you learn from those who were just in your seat. But for those of us that can go to the university, we have a superior knowledge and have been trained in pedagogy. This will help bring up the level of education.
