Family Background
I was born into a Christian family, My father was a pastor at the church. My father, mother and older sister were killed in the war in 2002. I was the oldest sibling left and responsible for taking care of my four sisters and two brothers. I finished secondary school and became a teacher until I went to the university. I have been able to help my siblings to finish through secondary school. It helps me a lot to attend the youth ministry and be part of Congo Impact.
How has Congo Impact helped you?
I am so thankful for Congo Impact and my sponsor. I had no other way to go to the university, graduate and get a job to support my family. They have also given me the skills and education I need to help my community.
What have you been doing since graduating from the university?
I started working at the CME hospital. I did three months of training and then worked for almost two years. While I was there, one of the nurses working at a nearby CME health center died. They asked me to transfer to the health center to be the head nurse. I am working there seven days a week.
How are you helping the people of Nyankunde?
I am helping the community in the area of medicine, especially malnutrition. We partner with an NGO to target those who are suffering from malnutrition. We go to homes and educate parents on how to help their children. Overall my job is difficult because I work many hours and we have many in need but very few who can pay. But we do our best and continue on in the work God has called us.
