Family Background

Duabo, my name, means my father leaves me, because my father left when my mother was pregnant with me. When I finished primary school my father came to get me so I would live with him. He has many wives and 28 children. My father died in 2010 and my mother died last year. I was the first to go to the university of all my siblings. I have since helped two siblings finish secondary school and three begin at the university. I have three children of my own.

What do you do currently?

I am the director of the secondary nursing school in Nyankunde. I do administrative work and care for students spiritually. I do not have the necessary credentials for my position but I hope to obtain them and grow in skill and knowledge through further education.

How has God worked in your life?

I was raised Catholic. I received Jesus and was baptized in the Christian church in Nyankunde in 2007. I have been growing in my faith ever since. I now lead devotions each morning at the nursing school and teach Sunday school at the church.

How is Congo Impact a help to you and others in Nyankunde?

Congo Impact allows many youth to continue their studies and return to rebuild the community and invest in the youth work. For me personally, my sponsor is helping me to get the education that I need to hold my position and continue to lead and grow the nursing school here. We will continue to train nurses so that they can care for others in the community both physically and spiritually.
